Update checklist
This topic provides a checklist of items that must be taken into account for a successful SoftExpert Suite update. Make sure to check each one of them.
- Refer to the "SoftExpert Suite - Release Notes" and "SoftExpert Suite - Patch Bulletin" documents for further details on the SoftExpert Suite updates and new features.
- Before the update:
- Make sure you have an Internet connection so that the required libraries are installed on the server.
- Make sure you have a backup of all the database(s). It is worth remembering that SoftExpert is not responsible for database administration; the configurations must be set by the database administrator.
- Make sure you have a backup of the server on which the application is running.
- Refer to the SoftExpert Suite - System Requirements document to check whether your environment has the recommended versions of third-party software.
- Check what type of update will be applied; see the Update overview section for more information about the update types that SoftExpert Suite allows.
- Make sure you have all the necessary packages for the update. Check the Environment configuration topic to check which packages will be required for the update.
- Check whether there are users logged in to the system.
- First, plan and test the update in a test system. Check whether the update was successful by executing the feature. After this verification, update the system in the production environment.
- It is recommended that the update process be started no later than 30 minutes after the last database backup.
