note
  • ¹ - SQL Server Express Edition may be used, provided that some requirements are met. See further details in "SQL Server Express Edition restrictions" below.
  • ² - Files larger than 30 MB must not be stored in the database; the controlled directory option must be used.
  • ³ - The language of the user who will connect to the database must be "English".
  • ⁴ - Can only be used in updates of version 2.2.3. It will not be compatible with new installations as of version 2.2.3 (including the latter).
caution
  • SoftExpert Suite provides the data source feature, which allows for connecting to other databases. Due to the evolution of the tool, supported DBMSs, such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and Oracle, will be compatible, in the data source, only with the proper supported versions.
  • If the database version is 'SQL Server 2019', the database must have, at least, patch 15.04138 (CU11), according to the patch list at: https://sqlserverupdates.com/sql-server-2019-updates/. We highly recommend keeping database fix patches always up-to-date, as they may contain engine bug fixes.
  • The DEFAULT_SCHEMA of the application user must necessarily be the SQL Server "dbo" standard; otherwise, you will face issues while equalizing the database.
warning

Connection to the DBMSs via ODBC for the data source feature is not supported by SoftExpert Suite.

SQL Server Express Edition restrictions

If the requirements below are not complied with, the application's performance may be compromised:

  • The number of simultaneous users in the solution must be lower than 15.
  • No other application may use the same database server.

Requirements for using SQL Server Express:

SQL Server Express2012, 2014 and 2016
Database size10 GB
RAM1 GB
CPU1 CPU or 4 Cores

SoftExpert recommends using the Oracle Client version on the application server, as shown in the table below:

ServerClient
18.X18.X
18.X19.X
19.X18.X
19.X19.X

ATTENTION

If SoftExpert Suite is installed on a Windows server, installing the 32-bit Oracle Client and 64-bit Oracle Client will be mandatory. If the 32-bit Client is installed first and the 64-bit Client is installed next, simply check the order of the parameters of the environment variables, as the configuration is set automatically. Otherwise, the configuration of the PATH variable must contain, as its first parameter, the installation path of the 64-bit Oracle, and then the installation path of the 32-bit Oracle.
