Update checklist

This topic provides a checklist of items that must be taken into account for a successful SoftExpert Suite update. Make sure to check each one of them.

  1. Refer to the "SoftExpert Suite - Release Notes" and "SoftExpert Suite - Patch Bulletin" documents for further details on the SoftExpert Suite updates and new features.
  2. Before the update:
  • Make sure you have an Internet connection so that the required libraries are installed on the server.
  • Make sure you have a backup of all the database(s). It is worth remembering that SoftExpert is not responsible for database administration; the configurations must be set by the database administrator.
  • Make sure you have a backup of the server on which the application is running.
  • Refer to the SoftExpert Suite - System Requirements document to check whether your environment has the recommended versions of third-party software.
  • Check what type of update will be applied; see the Update overview section for more information about the update types that SoftExpert Suite allows.
  • Make sure you have all the necessary packages for the update. Check the Environment configuration topic to check which packages will be required for the update.
  • Check whether there are users logged in to the system.
  1. First, plan and test the update in a test system. Check whether the update was successful by executing the feature. After this verification, update the system in the production environment.
  2. It is recommended that the update process be started no later than 30 minutes after the last database backup.
