Additional requirements
In order for some SoftExpert Suite features to be used, certain requirements must be installed on the workstation. See below these features and which requirements must be installed on the workstation:
The requirements mentioned in this section are applicable from SoftExpert Suite version 2.1.0 to the latest version.
Java
- Used in SoftExpert Project to view and edit projects with Gantt chart.

- Used in SoftExpert Document to view PDF files, DWG files, and images when SoftExpert PDFView or SoftExpert Viewer are enabled in the general parameters.

- Used in SoftExpert Capture to scan and capture documents.
- Used in SoftExpert PDM to view PDF files, DWG files, and images.

If OpenOffice/Libreoffice is used to edit electronic files, there may be a quality loss in file conversion. To prevent that, we recommend using Microsoft Office to edit files.

Plugins and additional tools
VectorDraw File Converter
- Used in SoftExpert Document to view DWG files when SoftExpert Viewer (DWG viewer) is enabled in the general parameters.
- Used in SoftExpert Document to handle DWG files when the category is configured with a complex file container (for AutoCAD connector only).
- Used in SoftExpert PDM to handle DWG files, when the item type is configured with a complex file container (for AutoCAD connector only).
SoftExpert provides an MSI for installing VectorDrawFile Converter on the workstation. This MSI (vdFileConverter4.msi) can be found, compressed, within the SoftExpert Suite server directory, or downloaded via the SoftExpert Suite URL:

Decompress it and execute the installation. Remember that, before the MSI is executed, SoftExpert Viewer must be uninstalled.
Viewers In order for SoftExpert Viewer to be used to view DWG files, the VectorDraw components must be installed on the workstation (client machine). The system will detect when the component is not installed or is outdated and will try to install the latest version. If the user does not have permission on the client machine, the application will return an error; in that case, the network administrator must execute the MSI.
