Version: 2.2.1

Authentication via NTLMv2

caution

⚠️ Attention:

  • Since version 2.0.10, SoftExpert Suite is no longer compatible with SSO NTLMv2, and this authentication has been discontinued since version 2.1.7.
  • NTLMv2 authentication without SSO can continue to be used as always.

The NTLMv2 (NT LAN Manager version 2) authentication type uses the "Domain address" and "NTLM port" fields entered in the domain configuration (Configuration > Configuration > Authentication (CM008) > Directory Integration > Domains) to establish connection to the NTLMv2 server. During the authentication process, the username and password provided on the system login screen are used.

This authentication protocol is based on the SMB (Server Message Block) protocol, and it is important to ensure that the SoftExpert Suite server has access to the address and port specified in the domain configuration, or to the default port used by the protocol (445). The connection is initiated by the system server, not the client machine.

The connection test performed during the registration of the domain checks communication using NTLMv2 and can be used to identify possible configuration errors in this authentication mode.

caution

⚠️ Attention:

  • It is important to highlight that the NTLMv2 authentication mode is not recommended for situations in which SoftExpert Suite server is outside the local domain, as it does not offer ideal security and performance for this type of environment.
